Retrofitting Strategy Installation of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) System
Thermal energy storage (TES) system can be integrated into systems such as cooling, heating, and power generation plant to store (charge) excess energy while the energy resource is sufficient, and then release (discharge) the stored energy for use in heating and/or cooling applications at a later time when the energy resource is not accessible. It enables the shifting of energy generation to off-peak electricity tariffs offered during times of low electricity demand.
Consideration
  • Charge and discharge of thermal energy should be managed for optimizing the performance and efficiency of the heating and/or cooling system in matching with the demand of the building.
  • Efficiency loss in storage and transportation of the thermal energy should be compensated by the performance and efficiency of the heating and/or cooling system.
Estimated Saving
The retrofit strategies is a mixture of different strategies and the saving estimation should be make reference to other single strategies.
