The infrastructure of building automation / management system (BA/BMS) allows integration with different meters and sensors, as well as the actuators of various systems to collect operation data of the building. The BA/BMS user interface allows users to configure and customise their dashboards for remote monitoring of energy and operation performance of the plants.

| Consideration
|
- The connectivity of wired or wireless sensors, meters and actuators in various locations for data capture should be considered.
- A sub-metering system may be used to facilitate energy monitoring and determining of consumption profile of the building operation and for facilitating demand-side energy management.
- The BA/BMS user interface may come with some basic analytics functions for providing data visualisation for improving the energy usage, and providing data for the implementation of RCx measures.
