Retrofitting Strategy Using spot cooling for local air-conditioning zone
Spot cooling is designed to provide cooling air to limited required area or certain time period without the need to cool the entire area that is not normally occupied. Energy-efficient ceiling fans can be used to provide quiet air movement to cool semi-outdoor areas.
Consideration
  • The required air-conditioning zone/space may not aims to satisfy the thermal comfort requirement of the occupants but the operation requirement of both operators and the operation system.
Estimated Saving

Waterside: 1/COP_CHPRE * QBLDGPRE * OPHRPRE,yr – 1/COP_CHPOST * QBLDGPOST * OPHRPOST,yr

Where COP_CH = 0.605*COP_CHSM + 0.395*COP_CHWN

COP_CHSM = (COPaSM + COPbSM)/2; COP_CHWN = (COPaWN + COPbWN)/2

QBLDGPRE = 0.605*[0.77*(0.88*NCHSM*QCHSM + 0.12*NCHWN*QCHWN)] + 0.395*[0.596*(0.184*NCHSM*QCHSM + 0.816*NCHSM*QCHSM)]

QBLDGPOST = QBLDGPRE * (L*W*H)POST/(L*W*H)PRE

Airside (AHUàSCU): SkW_AHUPRE * OPHRPRE,yr – SkW_SCUPOST* OPHRPOST,yr

Where  SkW_AHUPRE = (0.605*LFSM,PRE + 0.395*LFWN,PRE)*NAHUPRE*kW_AHUPRE

SkW_SCUPOST = (0.605*LFSM,POST + 0.395*LFWN,POST)*NSCUPOST*kW_SCUPOST

For CSD: LFSM = LFWN = 1,

For VSD: LFSM = 0.795, LFWN = 0.562;

For EC or DC-motor: LFSM = 0.71, LFWN = 0.38

OPHR,yr = hr/day*day/wk*52
