Description of the building:
EMS have been deployed at:
  • 54 A/C properties with shopping centers and markets
  • 77 chiller plants
  • 262 nos. of chiller
 


Retrofitted initiative:

Energy Management System (EMS)
  • Cloud-based platform with Knowledge-based Artificial Intelligence for energy data analysis and savings.
  • Collects operational data via Open Platform Communications (OPC) interface.
  • Pilot project carried out in 2020, achieved over 4% savings.
  • Full rollout was completed in July 2024.
  • Provide energy dashboard for visualization and monitoring.
  • A.I. chiller plant optimization to improve operational efficiency.
  • Fault detection and diagnostic for operational and maintenance issue identification.


Observed benefits other than energy saving:

Fault detection and diagnostic.
  • Identifying operational problems.
  • System provides insights for solving the problems.
  • Observe abnormal data for maintenance.
  • Real time monitoring indoor comfort level.
  • Faster response on operational and maintenance issue.


General observations of the retrofitting project:

  • During deployment, there was no downtime for operation.
  • Chiller plant chilled water supply temperature automatically and dynamically change and reset.
  • Chilled water pump speed control reset to reduce pump power and increase the chilled water delta T.
  • Cooling tower speed control reset optimized for lower energy usage while balancing chiller efficiency and cooling tower fan speed and power use.
  • Additional cooling tower decrease the water to air mass ratio to improve heat rejection to improve chiller efficiency.
